WASHINGTON, D.C. - August 9, 2001 - Georgia Virtual Technical College is offering its schools and students around-the-clock tutoring and academic support services provided by SMARTHINKING, the nation's leading provider of online tutoring and academic assistance for college students.

SMARTHINKING works with more than 100 schools, the US Army and publisher Houghton Mifflin. Through the SMARTHINKING service, students may ask questions of E-structor® Certified tutors in synchronous, asynchronous, and pre-scheduled, online tutoring sessions. In addition, SMARTHINKING records and archives all interactions permitting access and sorting for future review and use by the student or institution. SMARTHINKING currently offers assistance in core courses including math, statistics, economics, accounting, grammar, chemistry and Spanish.

"We chose SMARTHINKING as our learner support solution because of the comprehensive services SMARTHINKING can provide for our students, such as immediate live connectivity with professional tutors and instructors, 24-hour response time for students' questions and critique of students' writing assignments, as well as quality training for our instructors," says Debbie Dlugolenski, President of Georgia Virtual Technical College. "The user-friendly SMARTHINKING platform works on a standard browser providing easy access and speedy connectivity for our students, which is another reason we chose SMARTHINKING.

"With the phenomenal growth the Georgia Virtual Technical College has experienced over the last three years, we are constantly striving to offer more support services to benefit our students and we feel that SMARTHINKING Online Learner Support Solutions is the answer to offering additional academic support to enhance the performance of our students."

Georgia Virtual Technical College is distributing the SMARTHINKING service among math, English, accounting, and economics classes to support distance and traditional classroom courses. GVTC works with all 34 technical colleges across the state of Georgia.

"Georgia Virtual Technical College uses the Internet to offer more, better and more efficient educational services and courses. Aggregating student support services in core subjects and skills across the state makes economic and educational sense for an educational consortia," says Burck Smith, CEO of SMARTHINKING.
