Comparing Properties and Processes Helps with Problem-Solving
I enjoy working one-on-one with students and helping them to understand a particular concept or process needed to solve a problem. It is important that students take the time needed to carefully compare their given problem to all of the properties or processes that may be used to solve that problem, and by comparison they can see how the values in their problem correspond to the values in a particular property. Smarthinking’s greatest value to the student is that it gives them the tools to be successful and to be active thinkers.

"At Smarthinking, we don't give the student the solution. First we engage the student, determine what he or she knows, and work from that point forward. We suggest properties that may be helpful and have the student work on similar problems. We want them to think and grow in their knowledge of the material."
